Welcome to Lakshanam. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website lakshanam.com (the “Website”), the purchase of products from it, and our personal styling consultation service. The Website is owned and operated by Lakshanam by Subha (“Lakshanam”, “we”, “us”, “our”), an online jewellery store based in Tamil Nadu, India.
By accessing the Website, creating an account, placing an order or booking a consultation, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Shipping & Delivery Policy and our Returns & Refund Policy, all of which are incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Website.
These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, and do not require a physical or digital signature.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and competent to enter into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 to purchase from the Website. If you are under 18, you may use the Website only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who will be responsible for your purchases. By using the Website you represent that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is true, accurate and complete.
2. Your Account
- You may shop as a guest or create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login details and for all activity that takes place under your account.
- You must notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.
- We may suspend or close an account, and refuse or cancel orders placed from it, if we reasonably believe that it is being used in breach of these Terms, for fraudulent purposes or to abuse our policies.
3. Our Products: What You Are Buying
Lakshanam curates fashion jewellery from trusted makers; we do not claim to manufacture it ourselves. Please read the following carefully, because it describes the nature of every product we sell:
- Fashion (imitation) jewellery. Unless a product listing expressly states otherwise, our products are made from base metals such as brass, copper alloys or panchaloha (“impon”) with gold-tone, antique-gold, matte-gold or similar plated finishes. They are not solid gold, silver or platinum, are not hallmarked, and have no precious-metal value.
- Stones and pearls. Stones described as kemp, American Diamond (AD), cubic zirconia, crystal, semi-precious or synthetic, and pearls described as shell or imitation pearls, are exactly that. They are not natural or certified gemstones unless a listing specifically says so.
- Plating wears with use. Plated finishes will gradually dull or tarnish with wear, especially when exposed to perfume, sweat, water, cosmetics, chemicals or humidity. This is normal and is not a defect. Please follow the care instructions supplied with your piece.
- Skin sensitivity. Fashion jewellery may contain nickel or other alloys. If you have a metal allergy or experience irritation, discontinue use. We are not liable for allergic reactions or skin sensitivity.
- Not a toy. Products contain small parts and are not suitable for children. Keep them away from infants and young children.
- Limited quantities. Our pieces are curated in small numbers. A product shown as “Sold out” may not be restocked.
4. Product Images, Descriptions and Measurements
- Products are photographed under studio lighting. The colour, shine and tone of a product may look different on different screens and in different light. Slight variation between the photograph and the product you receive is normal and is not a defect.
- Our jewellery is handcrafted and hand-finished. Minor variations in colour, stone shade, finish, weight, size and detailing, including between two pieces of the same design, are inherent to the product.
- Sizes, lengths, weights and other measurements stated on the Website are approximate and may vary by up to 10%.
- We make every effort to ensure that product information is accurate and up to date, but we do not warrant that descriptions, images, prices or other content are error-free, complete or current. We may correct errors and update information at any time without prior notice.
5. Prices and Taxes
- All prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Shipping charges, if any, are shown separately at checkout.
- Where a struck-through price is displayed alongside a selling price, the struck-through price is the list price of the product and the selling price is the price you pay.
- Prices may change at any time without notice. A price change will not affect an order that has already been confirmed and paid for, except in the case of an obvious pricing error.
- If a product has been listed at an incorrect price because of a typographical or technical error, we reserve the right to cancel the order, even after confirmation, and will refund any amount paid in full.
6. Orders and Acceptance
- Your order is an offer to buy the products in it. The order confirmation email acknowledges that we have received your order and payment; our acceptance of your order takes place when the products are dispatched to you.
- We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, in whole or in part, for reasons including but not limited to: a product being unavailable or out of stock; an error in the price, image or description; suspected fraud, misuse of policies or unauthorised use of a payment method; an address that cannot be served by our courier partners; bulk, reseller or wholesale orders placed without prior agreement; or an order placed in breach of these Terms. If your payment has already been received, it will be refunded in full.
- Products added to your cart are not reserved until your payment has been completed. On rare occasions a product may sell out between the time you add it to your cart and the time you pay; if this happens we will inform you and refund you in full.
- You are responsible for reviewing your order, including the product, variant, quantity, delivery address and contact details, before completing payment.
7. Payment
- Payments are processed securely by our payment gateway, Razorpay, and can be made by UPI, credit card, debit card or net banking. We do not accept Cash on Delivery.
- By making a payment you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method. Card and banking details are entered directly on the payment gateway’s secure page and are never stored by Lakshanam.
- Your use of the payment gateway is also subject to Razorpay’s own terms and privacy policy.
- Failed and duplicate payments are handled as described in our Returns & Refund Policy.
8. Shipping and Delivery
Dispatch, delivery timelines, shipping charges, tracking, delivery attempts and the passing of risk are governed by our Shipping & Delivery Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Delivery timelines are estimates and not guarantees.
9. Returns, Cancellations and Refunds
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns or exchanges except for products that are delivered damaged, defective or incorrect and are reported to us within 4 hours of delivery with a continuous unboxing video. Orders may be cancelled only before dispatch. The full conditions, including what is not covered and how refunds are processed, are set out in our Returns & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
10. Personal Styling Consultation
Alongside our jewellery, we offer a paid personal styling consultation in which Subha helps you choose jewellery for your outfit, budget and occasion. The following terms apply to this service:
- Consultations are booked by contacting us on WhatsApp or email. The consultation fee is quoted in advance and is payable before the session. The fee is for Subha’s time and expertise and is separate from the price of any product you may later buy.
- You may reschedule a confirmed session by giving us at least 24 hours’ notice. A session that is missed, or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, is treated as delivered and the fee is not refunded.
- The consultation fee is non-refundable once the session has been delivered.
- The advice given is Subha’s honest personal opinion, based on the information, photographs and budget that you share. Styling is subjective, and we do not guarantee any particular outcome or that you will be satisfied with the recommendations.
- You are under no obligation to buy from Lakshanam. Where we believe another brand or seller has a piece that suits you better, we may say so. Such recommendations are made in good faith; we do not endorse, guarantee or take responsibility for the products, prices, quality, availability or service of any third party, and any purchase you make from them is solely between you and that third party.
11. Promotions, Coupons and Store Credit
- Discount codes, offers and promotions are subject to the conditions stated with them, are valid only for the stated period, and cannot be combined unless expressly permitted. Only one coupon may be used per order.
- Coupons, offers and store credit have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be applied to orders already placed.
- Store credit issued under our Returns & Refund Policy is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- We may modify or withdraw any promotion at any time, and we may cancel orders that misuse a coupon or promotion.
12. Intellectual Property
- The Lakshanam name, the lotus logo, the tagline, and all photographs, videos, product descriptions, text, graphics, layouts and other content on the Website are owned by or licensed to Lakshanam and are protected by Indian and international copyright and trade mark laws.
- You may view and print pages of the Website for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not copy, reproduce, download, scrape, republish, distribute or otherwise use our product photographs, videos or content, including on other websites, marketplaces or social media listings, without our prior written permission.
- Any unauthorised use of our content may result in legal action.
13. Reviews and User Content
- If you submit a review, photograph, comment or other content to the Website or to our social media channels, you grant Lakshanam a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, edit and display that content in connection with our business, including in marketing, with credit where appropriate.
- You confirm that any content you submit is your own, is honest and accurate, and does not infringe the rights of any third party or contain anything unlawful, defamatory or offensive.
- We may decline to publish, or remove, any content at our discretion.
14. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Website for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose, including placing orders with stolen or unauthorised payment methods;
- make false or exaggerated claims about damaged, defective or missing products, or initiate a chargeback for an order that has been delivered as described;
- use bots, scripts, scrapers or automated tools to access the Website, copy content or place orders;
- interfere with the security or proper working of the Website;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
- resell our products commercially without our prior written agreement;
- harass, abuse or threaten our staff or other customers.
We may block access, cancel orders, refuse future orders and report unlawful conduct to the appropriate authorities.
15. Communications
- By placing an order or contacting us, you agree to receive transactional communications about your order, delivery, claims and account by email, SMS, WhatsApp and telephone.
- We will send you marketing communications only where you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in the email or by messaging us.
- When you message us on WhatsApp, your conversation is also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
- You agree that all agreements, notices and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
16. Third-Party Services and Links
The Website uses third-party services such as our payment gateway and courier partners, and may contain links to social media platforms or other websites, including brands we may recommend during a consultation. These third parties are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content, products, services, terms or privacy practices, and a link or recommendation does not imply endorsement. Your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that third party.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, beyond the description of a product on its listing page, including any warranty as to how long a plated finish will last, or that the Website will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free. Nothing in this section limits the rights that you have as a consumer under Indian law.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- our total liability to you in connection with any order, product or service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, shall not exceed the amount you paid to us for that order or service;
- we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including loss of profit, opportunity, goodwill or data, or for any loss arising from delay in delivery, allergic reaction, normal wear of a plated finish, or use of a product other than as intended.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or other applicable Indian law.
19. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lakshanam, its founder and its personnel from and against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Website, your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, or any content you submit.
20. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where that failure or delay results from events beyond our reasonable control, including natural calamities, severe weather, epidemics, strikes, transport or courier disruptions, failures of payment or internet services, government action, lockdowns or civil disturbance.
21. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and every order and consultation are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the rights of consumers under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 to approach the appropriate consumer forum, the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, the Website or any purchase or service.
Before commencing any proceedings, you agree to first raise the matter with our Grievance Officer (Section 22) and to allow us 30 days to resolve it.

In accordance with the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 and the Information Technology Act, 2000, our Grievance Officer is:

We acknowledge every grievance within 48 hours of receipt and aim to resolve it within 30 days. Please quote your order number and describe the issue clearly so we can help you faster.
23. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the policies incorporated in them and the product listing for each order, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lakshanam in relation to your use of the Website and your purchases.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not be treated as a waiver of that provision or of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor of our business.
- Changes. We may revise these Terms at any time by publishing the revised version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. The version in force at the time you place an order applies to that order. Your continued use of the Website after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
